Insurrection Ave

there's a road I used to pass, but now I can't get past
Bob Dylan knew it, and so did Johnny Cash
it's a road straight to the blues, and it's called insurrection avenue

when you're lovin' a woman, but she don't love you
buddy, that kind of lovin', it just won't do
but that's the love you get, on insurrection avenue

you say you've got the gift, but you don't know what to do
a stranger appears, and he's much better than you
you won't get any help, from insurrection avenue

you've been dreamin' of a life, better 'n any you ever knew
no matter how hard you try, your dreams just won't come true
that's how it happens, down on insurrection avenue

god, he can't answer, he ain't got no clue
the devil won't deal, he's been silent, too
you're on your own, now, on insurrection avenue

there's a road I used to pass, but now I can't get past
Bob Dylan knew it, and so did Johnny Cash
it's a road straight to the blues, and it's called insurrection avenue
